About me
I'm Indira
I am a counsellor based in Bengaluru. I trained in Psychology in Mumbai, but much of what I know about people has come from work and life that unfolded in less predictable ways. My formal education was later supplemented through further training with institutions including the University of Sydney and Johns Hopkins University, as my interests and practice evolved over time.
I began my professional life working with urban and rural communities, including people with disabilities. Alongside this, I trained and performed Indian classical dance. That period taught me discipline and attention, but also how much emotion is carried without words—and how uneven learning often is.
Marriage and family life took me abroad. Over the years, I lived in Argentina, the United States, and the United Kingdom, with extended periods in Japan, Mexico, Turkey, the Middle East, and Singapore. Each move involved starting again—learning new rules, misreading situations, adjusting expectations. I saw how easy it is to appear settled on the outside while feeling uncertain within.
After my son was born, I returned to Bengaluru and resumed counselling work. During this time, I also ran a relocation and cultural orientation practice for foreign companies setting up operations in India. The work was practical and people-facing, and not always smooth. While many professionals adjusted well, some—including spouses—found the transition deeply unsettling. In a few cases, the move proved too distressing, and families chose to return to their home countries. Those experiences left a lasting impression on me about the emotional cost of change, even when it is carefully planned.
Music has remained a steady part of my life. I perform Hindustani classical music and was closely involved in my son’s early musical training. He is now an opera baritone. Music continues to remind me that progress is rarely linear, and expression often comes before understanding.
I have also been involved in running initiatives that channel aid to rural communities, and in managing an art gallery focused on emerging artists. That work, too, had its learning curves. Not every collaboration worked; some artists were found to be derivative or plagiaristic and had to be turned away. These moments reinforced the importance of integrity, discernment, and difficult conversations handled with clarity rather than confrontation.
Today, through Peacefulmind, I work largely with young professionals in technology, consulting, and healthcare. Many are competent, responsible, and outwardly doing well, yet feel emotionally tired, anxious, or quietly unsure. My approach is reflective and steady. I do not offer quick answers or diagnoses. I offer a confidential space to pause, speak freely, and make sense of what is unfolding at a pace that feels manageable.
Peacefulmind exists for those moments when life is functioning, yet something inside feels unsettled—and you would like to understand that without being rushed or judged.
